Total dollars raised for cancer research since 2009 $2,951,878 (so far)

Having someone die to any disease is a devastating ordeal, and when that loved one is a child of your own, it’s even worse. My son Ryder died just before his 6th birthday after beating this disease only for it to return 11 months later and I knew right then it would change my life forever and be the hardest thing I would ever have to go endure. Losing a child is not something you get over or heal from. It is with you for the rest of your life. What you do have to do is figure out how to deal with the knowledge that you have, and what to do with it.

So when people ask me why I ride I tell them simply, so I don’t have to ride in the future. So that with the money we raise by riding we can research and discover the cure for this terrible disease. So that people like me don’t have to go through what I went through, so children like Ryder do not have to suffer as a result of this disease.

So with that being said let make a pact together to beat this disease so that one day when this disease is mentioned it will be as a thing of the past and not the present.

So how do we do that?

The past 4 years have been an amazing success with the team raising just over $900,000 (an outstanding amount) and the event raising over 40 million dollars which is mind blowing. The team has grown from 13 team in 2009 to 185 team members in 2012 with my goal for 2013 being 333 team members and to raise 1 million dollars.  This is where you come in to play. There are a couple of ways to make this happen.

I believe that with your help in raising money and with enough people we can achieve our goal. I believe it with every fiber of my being. I believe we will find a cure.

So today I ask two things.

1. For those of you in the area please join team ‘Riders for Ryders’ and raise a minimum of $2500 which goes directly to cancer research. We have riders of all abilities from complete beginner to experts to help you reach your goals. We have people from Langley to Kits and everywhere in between. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me on 604 551 7959 or click register at the top of this page and select ‘join a team’ and I look forward to welcoming you to our team.

If you can’t commit to that or if you’re not in the area then please,

2. Make a donation of $100 to help me and Riders for Ryders reach our goal of 1 million dollars

If our efforts and your donations help at least one family to not have to go through what I have and many of you have then I think we’ll have all done our part.

Before I finish I wanted to thank everyone again for their support and donation over the past 4 years you have all blown me away with your generosity.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

In Ryders name I say

“We Can, and We Will!”
